Calling all little adventurers and their grown-ups! It’s time to explore, create, and play together at Mini and Me: Tiny Explorers starting March 17th at the Nikiski Recreation Center! Happening every Tuesday and Thursday from 10 to 11 AM. This 4 part program is created for kids ages 2 to 5! Join us as we dance, read stories, make art, and have a yummy snack. Each week will have a new theme such as: Earthy Explorers, Slimy Scientists, Splashy Creators, and Treasure Hunters! Mini and Me is designed to encourage parents to play with their children in a messy, fun-filled way, so come dressed to get creative!

Join us from 1:30 to 3 PM on the first Saturday of each month for international cooking advenFoods Around the World. On March 7 we are making Falafels with Creamy Cucumber Dill Dip; followed by April 4th, Four Flavors of Bourekas, and on May 2nd we will be making Breakfast Shakshuka. You don't want to miss out, this is going to be amazing.

Top Notch chefs is designed to introduce teens to a world of flavor. For the next nine months, we will feature a new flavor once a month that will be sure to question ones tastebuds. Flavors such as robust, savory, salty, sweet, tender, and pungent are just a few that we will explore. Starting in September, we will feature one of the following: an appetizer, an entree, or a dessert and focus on how to combine different spices to create the taste we are going for. Join us on the third Saturday of each month starting in September.

Get inspired and get creative at the Nikiski Recreation Center—every 4th Friday of the month starting in September, from 6 to 8 PM, Sept-May. Join us for fun, hands-on art classes where you'll explore acrylic painting, watercolor magic, decoupage design, rub-on transfers, fluid painting, stain glass, and Cricut design. Each session features a new technique and texture. This class is perfect for beginners or seasoned artists ages 16 and up! All supplies included—just bring your imagination.

Winter Fest

​​Join the North Peninsula Recreational Service Area January 18th from 1-5 at the Jason Peterson Memorial Rink for a magical snowy celebration of the season! At WinterFest, adventurers can experience the thrill of our Scavenger hunt, As you snowshoe or ski through trails in our frosty wilderness, keep your eyes peeled for mysterious tracks and hidden clues that hint at the presence of our legendary creature. Activities include; family skate, snow field games, scavenger hunt, alumni hockey game, bonfire, hot dogs and S'mores! Fun for all, so dress for the snow and ice, come on out for the WinterFest!​

Easter EGGstravaganza

Date: March 28, 2026
Time: 10:00-4:00pm

Hop on over to the Easter EGGstravaganza at the Nikiski Community Recreation Center! It's a fun-filled opportunity for the whole family on March 28th from 10 AM to 4 PM. Our Easter egg hunt is for kids ages 0 to 10, with plenty of eggs and surprises to find! In our craft room, kids and adults can create their own pop-up Easter bunny surprise. Plus, they can decorate a yummy Easter cookie with the most delicious frosting. If that is not enough, this year we will have a petting zoo where you will have the opportunity to feed rabbits, lambs, or goats. So, get ready and don't miss out, come on out to the Nikiski Community Recreation Center!! We can't wait to see you there.
