At the North Peninsula Recreation Service Area, we offer a wide variety of programs designed for individuals and families. From fitness classes to youth sports, our programs are tailored to promote physical activity, personal development and community involvement. Aquatics

Water Safety Instructor Course

Learn to Swim Group Session #1

Athletics & Leagues

We offer leagues for all ages and skill levels in sports like soccer, basketball, volleyball and more. Whether you’re looking for friendly competition or to enhance your skills, our leagues provide a supportive and fun environment for players of all levels.

Niksiki Youth Basketball 1st -2nd Grade Co-Ed

Season: January - March
Registration Begins: November

NPRSA’s 1st/2nd Grade basketball program is a co-ed league for students in 1st and 2nd grade only. Practices and games are held at the Nikiski Community Recreation Center.

Supersonic Ultraviolet Youth Volleyball

Season: January - March
Registration Begins: November

NPRSA’s youth volleyball program is a co-ed league for students in 4th through 6th grade. Practices and games are held at NCRC.

Nikiski Youth Basketball (NYB) 1st-2nd Grade Co-Ed

Season: January - March

NPRSA’s 1st/2nd Grade basketball program is a co-ed league for students in 1st and 2nd grade only. Practices and games are held at NCRC.

Adult Co-ed Volleyball

Season: March - April
Registration Begins: January

NPRSA’s Adult Volleyball League is open to Adults 18 and over. All games take place at the Nikiski Community Recreation Center. Game schedules and times depend on the number of teams participating. Registration begins in January.

Master Chef Jr. - Hearty & Delicious Casseroles

Dates: January 4, February 1, & March 1
Registration Begins: January
Time: 1:30-3:00pm
Grades: 3-5
Cost: $5/Class

The Master Chef Jr Series is designed to teach kids basic cooking skills while helping them become independent in the kitchen and feel accomplished with their creations. The Hearty & Delicious Casserole sessions features a new type of casserole, starting with the delicious pizza casserole in January; followed by a French Toast Breakfast Casserole; and, good ol' Southern Mac and Cheese Casserole. Each day will end with a delicious taste test and a sense of accomplishment.

Top Notch Chef - Ooey Gooey Brownies

Dates: January 11, February 15, & March 15

Calling all young bakers with a tastebud for sweets! Join us for an exciting hands-on cooking class focused on one of the most beloved treats: brownies. You'll learn to bake and enjoy delicious brownie varieties like: Brookies, Chocolate Cheesecake Brownies, and Oreo Brownies.

Adult Art Night

Dates: January 24, February 28, March 28

Time: 6:00-8:00pm
Ages: 16 & up
Cost: $15/Class

Join us the 4th Friday of the month at the Nikiski Recreation Center for various fine art classes. Each class will focus around a different type of medium, starting with watercolor painting in January, followed by pottery sculpting, acrylic, and tile painting, and fluid painting. Spaces are limited, so sign up today​ and let your artistic journey begin!

Mini & Me - Beware of Dinosaurs

Mini and Me, "Beware of Dinosaurs" is a fun, messy, interactive way of introducing your child to the world of dinosaurs. This program focuses on strengthening the bond between parent and child. Join us for a fantastic 3-part journey where your child can dig for bones, listen for dinosaur sounds, go on a dino hunt, and watch dinosaur eggs hatch.

Winter Fest

​​Join the North Peninsula Recreational Service Area January 18th from 1-5 at the Jason Peterson Memorial Rink for a magical snowy celebration of the season! At WinterFest, adventurers can experience the thrill of our Scavenger hunt, As you snowshoe or ski through trails in our frosty wilderness, keep your eyes peeled for mysterious tracks and hidden clues that hint at the presence of our legendary creature. Activities include; family skate, snow field games, scavenger hunt, alumni hockey game, bonfire, hot dogs and S'mores! Fun for all, so dress for the snow and ice, come on out for the WinterFest!​
